"Speaking of painting, I wasn't sure why John Kiernan of Blue Line Studios was painting a marble looking canvas until I asked. He makes custom 'green' counter tops.
"The counter top is based on cement properties, tumbled glass, 100% green, and it's final layer is 2 part epoxy which is 100% green."
The really great thing about these new green technologies is their cost. While some are comparable to more conventional products, the ones that cost more initially will save more over time and you often end up making money in the long run.

Welcome to Blue Line Studios, specialists in decorative finishes and murals for residential and commercial clients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland.
The artist and owner, John Kiernan, has a special talent for creating Trompe L'Oeil that challenges the limits of reality. His murals are so realistic that one actually feels he or she is a part of them. John has created everything from a 26' bookcase to a 20' city scene complete with ticket booth and a grand Venetian theatre. John works with many of the area's top designers to make every home a "model home."
John Kiernan grew up in Long Island, NY, and acknowledges he has a God-given talent. To enhance his natural skills, John studied Art at the School of Visual Arts in NYC; Advertising Art and Design at Farmingdale State University; and Faux Finishing at the Finishing School in Floral Park, NY. John has been featured in several publications such as Faux International, Washington Post, Washington Spaces, Elan, Home & Design, and The Artistic Stenciler. He has an impressive portfolio that accompanies him on every visit, and references are readily available.
John has won several prestigious awards in his field. In 2005 he was inducted in "Salon." Salon is known as the International Society Of Decorative Painters. This event is invitation only consisting of the top decorative painters from around the world. Members of Salon are amongst the most well respected decorative artists in the field.
